The new trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire has just been released by Warner Bros. giving us food for thought while we wait another nine months for the film’s release.

Although Noam Murro has taken over from Zack Snyder as director, the trailer certainly does share the same look and feel of the original. Other than the change in director duties the film also features a cast shuffle up. Lena Headey will reprise her starring role as the Spartan Queen, Gorgo and we’ll also see welcome returns from the likes of Dilios (David Wenham) and the Persian King, Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) whilst the sequel welcomes newcomers Sullivan Stapleton as Themistokles and Eva Green as the villainess, Artemisia.

Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, 300:Rise of an Empire follows the Greek general Themistokles as he attempts to unite all of Greece by marching on the Persian forces of mortal-turned-god Xerxes and his right hand woman, Artemisia.

300: Rise of an Empire is released in US cinemas on March 7, 2014 whilst no solid UK release date has yet been confirmed.
